A.D.U. Accessory Dwelling Unit.

This garage and apartment was added to the back end of a house lot in north east Bozeman. An infill project that fits in nicely to the neighborhood. It gave a much needed garage and office to the homeowners while providing an apartment for rental income. This really increased the value of the property.

The materials and style of the ADU were chosen by matching the existing home on the lot. Keeping the classic exterior look and sizing the ADU properly made for a harmonious look for the buildings. According to the Bozeman Unified Development Code (U.D.O.) 600 sq. ft. is the maximum living space allowed in this scenario. The apartment floor plan layout was carefully designed to maximize the living space. Having its own entrance from the alley and orienting the living room and bed room to the north and south provided plenty of privacy between the ADU and main home occupiers. The office is located on the main floor. This is used by the homeowners. It gives a great work area without the distractions of day to day home life.
